I joined the Dr. Schär Institute...

...as part of my work in Dr. Schär's Nutrition Service – the interface between nutritional medicine expertise and practice-oriented product solutions. The Institute is one of the central projects that we initiated as a specialist nutrition department. The aim was to create a platform that promotes exchange with doctors and nutritionists – especially in the context of cereal and gluten-related diseases ( GRD ).

And it was in this context that the Dr. Schär Institute was developed: to provide professionals with sound information and to support the diagnosis and care of patients. Since then, we at the Dr. Schär Institute have consistently pursued the goal of closing existing knowledge gaps and providing evidence-based content in order to improve the quality of advice and care in the field of gluten-free nutrition.

My area of responsibility there is...

...as Global Director of Nutrition Service, it is of course very broad. However, one of my favourite tasks at the Dr. Schär Institute is to moderate exciting roundtable discussions - and to take the time to read current specialist articles and publications on the subject of GRD in preparation. I also love interacting with experts from different disciplines - from gastroenterology and general medicine to nutritional science and dietetics to food chemistry - especially when it comes to preparing our webinars, lectures and conference presentations.

One of my personal highlights was...

...the development and introduction of the "Coeliac Disease and Gluten-Free Nutrition" advisory folder: the feedback showed us that there is still a great need for information on GRD, even among professionals. So we expanded the project and began creating the advisory folder in other languages - which, thanks to the many positive responses, became another highlight.

For me, however, the Dr. Schär Institute's appearances at all the major international conferences with symposia are always magical moments - especially at the International Celiac Disease Symposium, which takes place every two years in a different country. Being there in person generates so much positive feedback - and it's great to see first-hand how our global network of doctors and nutritionists is constantly growing.

Another highlight for me is the Dr. Schär Institute newsletter. I am always delighted when I see in my inbox that our editorial team has once again prepared exciting topics, new studies and the latest conference reports.

GRD diagnostics and therapy are close to my heart because...

In my role as Global Director of Nutrition Services, it is a central concern of mine to actively represent Dr. Schär's mission, vision and values and to bring them to life in our exchanges with our stakeholders. Supporting people with cereal or gluten-related disorders has always been an integral part of our identity - from diagnosis to guidance on a balanced, gluten-free lifestyle that is suitable for everyday use. The positive feedback we receive is particularly motivating, as it encourages us in our work and shows that we are creating real added value with our holistic approach.
